Steam Packet House
Transforming an iconic piece of history
Client - Ribot Investments Limited
Value - £200,000
Sector - External works
Since the building was completed over a century ago, Steam Packet House has become one of Manchester city centre’s most iconic and best-known buildings. But there comes a time when even fame and history deserve a facelift.
In 2010, Ribolt Investments commissioned Redbridge to transform the 26,885 sq ft block.
Having completed the internal fit out, on time and on budget, Redbridge was asked to produce a schedule of works for:
- A full scaffolding of the building
- Remedial stonework repairs
- A full clean of the stone
- Decoration and remedial work to all windows.
Working closely with the client, managing agents, existing tenants, and Manchester City Council, we arranged for all potentially disruptive work to be carried out safely and out of office hours.
We have a reputation for maintaining very high standards of health and safety in all our projects, and Steam Packet House exemplified this.
Throughout the work, the site received fortnightly visits from our external Health and Safety Consultant, plus daily internal audits, and spot checks by Redbridge staff.
We are pleased to announce that the project was completed without incident and to the satisfaction of all involved.
